The global alliance SkyTeam offers thousands of destinations worldwide in more than 170 countries. The alliance is the second largest in the world, both when it comes to passengers carried and number of members.
SkyTeam was founded in the year 2000 by four airlines – Aeromexico, Air France, Delta Air Lines and Korean Air. Today the alliance has grown quite a lot and has 18 members. Among the members you find representatives from each continent except Oceania. The headquarters is located in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Which are the benefits of the SkyTeam alliance?
All three major airline alliances, Star Alliance, SkyTeam and Oneworld, have the purpose to make traveling as convenient as possible for their customers. If you choose to travel with an airline that is part of the SkyTeam alliance, you will access better connectivity.
You can also earn and redeem Frequent Flyer Miles, and as an Elite passenger there can be benefits such as priority check-in, preferred seating and extra baggage allowance. It is also common that the partnering airlines share services, which makes it easier for you to get in touch with any airline in the alliance.
